                                        Robert Turner
                                       - Secretary.

Robert Turner is a son of Montego Bay, Jamaica. He is a past student of both the Barracks Road Primary, and Harrison Memorial High School, where he was the Deputy Head boy for the period 1973-1974.

After his graduation 1974, Mr. Turner’s first taste of the working world, as at one of the Parishes’ most respected accounting firm, B.D. Holmes & Co, where he did a one year stint as an audit clerk. Subsequent to his tenure at B.D Holmes, he went on to the National Youth Service as an assistant clerk of courts with the Montego Bay RM Court, serving for another one year period, before being transferred to the post of assistant field officer for the NYS in St. James.

Upon completing his youth service duties, he was approached by Attorney-at-Law Carl Miller, who was then managing director of the Montego Bay Legal Aid Clinic, to take up a vacant position as accountant for that body. This turned out to be a position that he held for another thirteen rewarding years, according to Mr. Turner, as he was able to work a two-fold position, doubling as both an accountant and legal clerk.

So rewarding was his job, that he got to work alongside such famed individuals in the ilk of Carl Miller, who later went on to serve as MP of the constituency, plus the renowned Ronnie Thwaites, Trevor Ho-Ling, Michael Clarke (deceased), Albert Morgan, Pauline Simpson and the current manager, Attorney Ian Max Cooke.

During this period, he was instrumental in launching the Defenders United Youth Club, along with a few friends. The club had its home base in the inner-city community of Green Pond. He served as president for a number of years, and was elected as the club’s representative to the Social Development Commission region 6 youth council.

At the Legal Aid Clinic, he was appointed to the board of directors as a member, working alongside such esteemed and notable directors as the Hon Frank Pringle, (former Tourism Minister), Clayton Morgan, Ronnie Thwaites, Carl Miller, Roy Fairclough, Ms. Gloria Davis & Mr. George Holloway. However, after thirteen years at the Legal Aid Clinic, he decided to migrate to the USA, in order to further his studies.

Upon arrival in the USA the calling for higher education was so strong, that he immediately enrolled at the Bronx Community College of the City University of New York, graduating with an AS degree in accounting. Continuing his quest for knowledge, he applied and gain entrance to The Bernard Baruch College of the City University of New York, where he graduated in 1998 with a BBA degree.

One could say that he has come full circle, as having attended Bronx Community College; Robert is now employed as an Accountant to that body, for the past ten years.

He is an avid tennis and domino player, and loves to watch a good game of soccer.
